DEWITT FARMERS' MARKET
2010 VENDOR RULES
The DeWitt Farmers' Market is located in Downtown DeWitt North of the intersection
of Main and Bridge Streets, from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday. Each vendor is
required to arrive at that location by 4:30 PM and shall vacate by 8:30 PM.
Violation of Market rules, as determined by the Market Committee, will preclude
the vendor from future markets. Prior to becoming a vendor each vendor must
read and sign a copy of these market rules.
TYPE OF PRODUCTS
Products that vendors may sell include; fruits, vegetables, flowers (fresh or
dried) and foods (licensed). We require at least 10% of your product be from
your own garden/farm. All products sold MUST be from Michigan. Manufactured
products are prohibited, unless written approval is received from the Market
Committee. Handmade arts and crafts items may be sold according to the guidelines
below.
QUALITY OF PRODUCTS
Vendors are required to comply with all Michigan Department of Agriculture Rules
and Regulations. The department can be reached at 373-9018. Selling overripe,
spoiled or unusable produce is not permitted. Vendors selling food products
must provide a copy of their license to verify their product is prepared and
cooked in a licensed kitchen. Vendors selling baked goods, maple syrup, plants,
processed foods and meats must have their good inspected and possess a valid
Department of Agriculture permit prior to setting up their stall at the Market.
You must display your Department of Agriculture permit at your stall during
your hours of operation.
ARTS & CRAFTS SALES
Vendors selling arts will be assigned stalls based on availability as determined
by the Market Committee. The Market Committee may require review of and approval
of artwork prior to sale at the market. Applications with a photograph or sample
may be required to the Market Committee in advance for this review. The Market
Committee retains the right to limit the number of artists at each market.
RATES
There are 20 markets this year.
The vendor fee is $10.00 per market, which is $200 for the season. However,
if you sign up to be a seasonal vendor and pay for the entire season by May
25, 2010, and attend 15 of the 20 markets, we will refund half of your fee.
STALL SIZE AND ASSIGNMENTS
Each stall measures 18' wide by 20' long. Stall assignments are made on a submission
basis. The first vendor that submits an Application Form will select from all
available stalls, the second vendor that submits will select from the remaining
available stalls and so on, until all stalls are occupied. A vendor selecting
for the entire season on one Application Form may request their location for
the entire season.
Vendors must be checked in with the days Market Leader at or before 4:30 PM
on the day of the Market or will lose their stall assignment. Vendors are required
to be there the entire time of the market. If you are unable to be at the market
until 8:00 PM, it is best that you do not participate in that days market. Vendors
are not allowed to tear down and leave during the hours of operation. Vendors
are responsible for the cleanliness of their stall during Market and at the
end of each Market day. Dumping of produce in the trash cans is forbidden. Each
vendor must take everything they brought to Market, including boxes, bags etc.
Smoking is not permitted in the stall area.
THE MARKET COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DENY VENDOR PRIVILEGES TO ANY VENDOR
THAT FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THESE VENDOR RULES OR FOR ANY VIOLATION OF CITY, STATE
OR FEDERAL LAWS RELATED TO VENDOR ACTIVITIES DURING MARKET.
I have read and received a copy of the 2010 DeWitt Farmers' Market Vendor rules.
